"Health and the Family"

In French there is a rhyming pun on the word for "illness" (maladie) which means "difficulty to say" (mal à dit).  This linguistic joke highlights a particular insight and understanding into the workings of the human body that stretches back in time to the ancient Greeks and beyond.

Illness is seen an expression in a somatic, biological form of an underlying conflict.   For whatever reason, an individual isn't able to express a conflict state in an appropriate emotional form and so their body takes the biological route.  From this perspective, illness can be understood as a solution to an underlying conflict in a biological form.

In family groups, transmission takes place across generations in many different forms.  One form in which transmission takes place is through the health and well-being of its members.

When a person gets sick, their body develops anti-bodies to defend against infection.  This adaptive development is past on to the next generation via the genetic code.  A baby is born intact with a highly developed immunity system which has been developed and fine-tuned by preceding generations to ensure survival.

In this presentation, Malachy Coleman will be looking at how illness is an expression of specific conflicts the family group has to deal with.  In certain cases, these conflicts have been transmitted from one generation to another.

In the absence of biographical information, the illness of family members can help reconstitute a history of the underlying conflicts the family has to deal with.  Drawing on the insights developed in psychogenealogy and biological decoding, Malachy Coleman will be looking at ways of diagnosing and treating illness - both physical and psychological - within a transgenerational perspective with the objective of heightening individual well-being and health.

Malachy Coleman is a psychotherapist, trained in body-centred psychotherapy, NLP, psychogenealogy and biological decoding.

Health and the Family Workshop Cycle

I will be following up with a
cycle of three psychogenealogy workshops in English.  Dates are yet to be defined.

This workshop cycle is for people who would like to explore in more detail their family tree, detect how limiting elements are being repeated, and establish some strategies towards opening up new possibilities.

The cycle is open to people who have already done some psychogenealogy work or to those starting out.  For those people I haven't met face to face, it is necessary to arranage a short meeting with me before the cycle starts.

Each workshop starts at 8.00 p.m. and finishes at either 10.00 p.m. or 11.00 p.m. (depending on the number of participants). You will receive confirmation of this before the start of the first workshop.

Commitment to the cycle means availability on all three dates.

The price of each workshop is 50.00 euros per participant regardless of the duration.

The group will be limited to a maximun of 6 people.

If you are interested in taking part, please let me know as soon as possible.  You can contact me through the contact form on this site or leave a message
